Choosing flooring for the way a room is used

Different rooms place different demands on a floor. Tell us whether the area is used for washing, circulation, care, education or general office work, and explain any issues with the existing covering. We can discuss suitable vinyl products and installation details for the intended use. Product selection should consider the expected conditions and cleaning requirements; a covering should not be chosen on appearance alone.

Cap and cove and welded joins

Cap and cove is a finishing arrangement where the flooring turns up at the wall rather than ending at a flat junction. Our existing healthcare and school projects include cap and cove installation and welded joins. The layout, edges, existing fittings and condition of the base all need to be considered when planning this work.

See our NHS bedroom and shower-room vinyl flooring project, where the work included preparation, replacement vinyl, cap and cove and welded joins.

Subfloor preparation and replacement work

Replacing vinyl can reveal problems beneath the old covering. Depending on the survey and agreed scope, work may include removing the existing floor, repairing damaged areas and preparing a suitable surface before fitting. Our Islington school office project involved removing old screed before the new floor could be installed.

Planning access and quotations

Let us know which rooms must remain in use, the access available and your preferred working dates. We will discuss a practical scope and programme for the project. For an initial enquiry, send your London or Kent postcode, approximate floor area, photographs and any product specification you already have.

Can you replace cap and cove as part of the work?

Yes, where included in the agreed scope. We will discuss the condition of the existing finish, walls and flooring before quoting.

Do you undertake repairs as well as replacement floors?

Our work includes flooring repairs and maintenance. Whether a repair is appropriate depends on the condition and extent of the damage.
