Our client based in Canary Wharf London had problems with a painted floor flaking caused by heavy trollies and pallets over a period of time.

As a solution we recommended a rubber floor which would be much more durable and capable of standing heavy loads.

We first spent a while grinding back the paint on the existing floor. After cleaning the floor, we applied a self-levelling screed. Once this was dry and sanded down, we set about laying the rubber flooring and cutting it into each area.

Rubber flooring offers numerous benefits for commercial buildings, making it a popular choice in a variety of settings such as offices, gyms, hospitals, and retail spaces.

Here are some of the key advantages:

  1. Durability and Longevity

Rubber flooring is highly durable and can withstand heavy foot traffic, making it ideal for busy commercial environments. Its resilience ensures that it maintains its appearance and functionality for many years, reducing the need for frequent replacements.

  1. Comfort and Safety

Rubber flooring provides a cushioned surface that enhances comfort for people who stand or walk on it for extended periods. This cushioning effect can also reduce fatigue and the risk of injuries, making it a safe option for workplaces and recreational facilities.

  1. Noise Reduction

Rubber flooring has excellent sound-absorbing properties, which helps to minimize noise levels in busy environments. This makes it particularly suitable for offices, gyms, and other areas where noise control is important.

  1. Slip Resistance

The natural texture of rubber provides excellent traction, reducing the likelihood of slips and falls. This makes rubber flooring a safe choice for areas that may get wet or where safety is a priority, such as gyms, hospitals, and entryways.

  1. Ease of Maintenance

Rubber flooring is relatively easy to clean and maintain. It is resistant to stains and does not require waxing or polishing. Regular sweeping and occasional mopping are usually sufficient to keep it looking good.

  1. Environmental Benefits

Many rubber flooring products are made from recycled materials, such as old tires, which makes them an environmentally friendly option. Additionally, rubber flooring is often recyclable at the end of its life, contributing to a more sustainable lifecycle.

  1. Versatility in Design

Rubber flooring comes in a variety of colours, patterns, and textures, allowing for creative and customizable design options. This versatility makes it suitable for a wide range of aesthetic preferences and functional requirements.

  1. Chemical and Stain Resistance

Rubber flooring is resistant to many chemicals and staining agents, making it an ideal choice for environments such as healthcare facilities, laboratories, and kitchens where spills and exposure to various substances are common.

  1. Thermal Insulation

Rubber flooring provides a degree of thermal insulation, helping to maintain a more consistent indoor temperature. This can contribute to energy efficiency and enhance the comfort of the indoor environment.

  1. Allergen Control

Rubber flooring does not harbour dust, pollen, or other allergens, making it a good choice for buildings where air quality and allergen control are important, such as hospitals and schools.

Overall, the combination of durability, safety, comfort, and aesthetic versatility makes rubber flooring a highly advantageous choice for many commercial applications.
